Q: What does (unit of measure) the tester readout in?
A: The tester displays the reading in psi.
Q: What other readout or charts come with the tester?
A: The soil compaction tester only reads out in psi. There is no conversion charts to other units of measure.
Q: What is the pressure range of the tester?
A: The ½ inch tip of the tester will test from 0-600 psi.
The ¾ inch tip will test between 0- 400 psi.
Q: What are the grooves in the shaft?
A: The Soil Compaction tester has grooves every 3 inches to help determine depths of compaction zones.
Q: Is this item repairable?
A: No, the repair costs could exceed the cost of the instrument.
Q: Do I need to remove the clamp?
A: Yes, the clamp is used to protect the instrument in shipment.
Q: Oil is leaking out of it, what should I do?
A: On one side of the instrument is a circular hole with a screw inside remove the screw and add a couple of drops of hydraulic fluid.
Q: My new Soil compaction tester doesn’t have a bubble in it.
A: As of the spring of 2005 we no longer used liquid filled gauges.
