CCS100 FAQs

Q: The console won’t turn on.
A: This may be the result of one of the following issues: 1. Blown fuse. 2. Battery connections. Don’t use an in-cab convenience plug. 3. Damaged power cable. 4. Control console is defective.

Q: The APER message keeps flashing, and the alarm sounds. No bars are showing on bar graph display, indicating that the flow meter is not giving any feedback.
A: This may be the result of one of the following issues: 1. Control valve defective, or it’s cabling. 2. Flow meter paddle wheel is jammed; the sensor is defective; or cable is cut/pinched. 3. Control console is defective.

Q: The control valve will not open in the Auto mode while moving through the field (bar graph display blank). Control valve functions normally in Flush mode (bar graph display shown in Flush mode).
A: This may be the result of one of the following issues: 1. Loss of ground speed input (ground speed sensor defective or cabling). 2. Control console defective.

Q: The fuse blows when it’s replaced.
A: This may be the result of one of the following issues: 1. Main harness is pinched or cut, or insulation rubbed off. 2. Switch module, control console, ground speed sensor, or optional lift switch is defective. 3. Implement harness is pinched or cut, or insulation rubbed off. 4. Pressure transducer, control valve, or optional nozzle monitor flow meter is defective.

Q: What is the flow meter constant, and where do I find it?
A: The flow meter constant is written on the side of the flow meter with a black marker. A standard number of 2.145 could be used if the number isn’t readable. Adjust the constant for more accuracy: New constant=old constant X desired APR/actual APR

Q: CMS reads speed while sitting still.
A: This may be the result of one of the following issues: 1. Radar is vibrating; check mounting. If you can grab the radar with your hand from the side and the speed reading stops, you have a vibration problem. 2. Radar is defective.

Q: What does the flush flow rate and bar graph maximum flow rate mean?
A: The flush flow rate is the amount of material that’s discarded in one hour if the Off/Auto/Flush switch is held in the Flush position for that long. The bar graph maximum flow is the amount of material (in pounds per hour) discharged when the bar graph indicates 100 percent.

Q: I over applied my product by 5 percent, how do I correct it?
A: The flow sensor constant can be adjusted to compensate for small errors. To adjust, take the desired application rate divided by the actual APR multiplied by the current flow sensor constant to get your new adjusted constant. New constant = old constant X desired APR/actual APR

Q: I under/over applied by 18 percent. Why did this happen? The controller maintained the desired rate.
A: An over or under application of 18 percent is normally caused when the density constant isn’t programmed correctly. To correct the problem, make sure the proper column on the density chart is being used.

Q: The CCS100 just says off. Why?
A: The master switch is in the Auto position. The CCS100 will not turn on with the master switch in the Auto position for safety purposes.
