Auburn, IL - The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers recently announced that DICKEY-john Corporation, based in Auburn, Illinois, has won an AE50 award for the Instalab® 700 NIR Product Analyzer and is deemed one of the year’s most innovative designs in engineering products or systems.

DICKEY-john developed the IL700 for the commercial grain trade industry, including elevators, export terminals, processing plants, ethanol plants, feed formulators, and food processors. This new product analyzer encompasses the solid design concepts of the DICKEY-john IL600 with enhanced features and benefits that provide the latest in constituent analysis technology including an easy-to-operate, multilingual user interface, Windows-based operating system, and self-adjusting diagnostics. The self-contained optical reflectance instrument quickly and accurately measures constituent concentration such as moisture, protein, oil, starch, fiber, and ash.

Roger VanderKolk, DICKEY-john Product Manager, stated, “We are honored to receive this award. The modernization of the IL700 instrument has resulted in many innovations that benefit the global commercial grain industry where knowledge of the grain constituent is required to control a process. IL700 users can rely on the machine to provide accurate, reliable results with a quicker turnaround time during calibration development.”

Companies from around the world submit entries to the annual AE50 competition and up to 50 of the best products are chosen by a panel of international engineering experts. The judges select products that will best advance engineering for the food and agriculture industries.

The AE50 award program is sponsored by Resource magazine to emphasize the role of new products and systems in bringing advanced technology to the marketplace. These engineering developments help farmers, food processors, and equipment manufacturers cut costs, enhance quality, and increase profits. The IL700 will be featured in the January/February 2013 special AE50 issue of ASABE’s magazine. Resource: Engineering & Technology for a Sustainable World.
